The Evil of Ragging in Educational Institutions
Getting education is the right of every student, for which they need to take admission in schools or colleges. But what if this entry becomes a curse for them.
I feel deeply worried after going through news about the inhuman treatment meted out to new entrants by the seniors in educational institutions, called 'ragging' . It seems it has become a necessary part of entry in the institution. Those who accept the conditions prevail, whereas those who oppose it have to bear the consequences. Many times students are asked to perform objectionable actions or gestures which make the newcomers feel very guilty and grief- stricken. Some have even committed suicide out of shame. The question is - Is human life worthless that it has to succumb to such treatment? The seniors justify this act because they too had gone through this and therefore consider it to be their right. When will this stop and who will stop it?
The issue needs to be handled very carefully, and proper counselling to students and parental guidance will play an important role. Wake up and become responsible!
